Thailand's SET index is expected to open higher Tuesday, snapping an eight-session slide that has erased more than 80 points, or 7 percent, and left the benchmark just above the 1,060-point plateau. The index fell 4.85 points, or 0.45 percent, on Monday to close at 1,062.78, trading between 1,053.79 and 1,067.88 on volume of 7.885 billion shares worth 32.506 billion baht. Decliners outpaced gainers 431 to 95. The rebound call follows a late Wall Street surge. The Dow rose 0.89 percent to 42,581.78, the NASDAQ gained 0.94 percent to 19,630.97, and the S&P 500 added 0.96 percent to 6,025.17. Federal Reserve Vice Chair Michelle Bowman signaled support for a rate cut as early as July, citing job market concerns and easing tariff-related inflation. Reports of potential U.S.-China tariff reductions also lifted sentiment. Energy Absolute and Krung Thai Card each plunged 15.11 percent; Thailand Airport gained 2.65 percent. August WTI crude fell 6.77 percent to $68.84 per barrel.
