Solana Foundation Launches Open-Source DvP Settlement Standard With J.P. Morgan Input
The Solana Foundation on Monday launched Solana DvP, an open-source escrow program giving financial institutions a standardized API for delivery-versus-payment settlement on the public blockchain. The MIT-licensed tool compresses settlement into a single atomic transaction, eliminating the multi-day clearinghouse, depository and custodian chain used in traditional markets. J.P. Morgan provided input on institutional settlement practices that shaped the design. Catherine Gu, the foundation's head of product for digital assets, said atomic settlement "removes counterparty risk" and offers "finality in seconds instead of days." Rhodel D'souza, J.P. Morgan's head of markets digital assets, called a shared open standard for atomic DvP "exactly the kind of foundational infrastructure institutional market participants require." The program supports SPL Token and Token-2022, including permanent delegate, pausable tokens and transfer hooks, and has undergone external security audits. Privacy features are planned. The launch builds on Solana's institutional push: BlackRock launched a tokenized money market fund on Solana and Ethereum in August, while Kraken offers tokenized U.S. stocks via xStocks.
