Taiwan's benchmark TAIEX opened at 46,942.75 on Thursday and rose more than 400 points intraday, rebounding from a recent losing streak as foreign investors turned net buyers in both futures and spot markets and electronics stocks led gains. TSMC (2330-TW) opened up 0.62% at NT$2,435, while the electronics sector rose 1%. Foreign investors ended a 10-session run of net selling totaling NT$838.064 billion by buying a net NT$960 million Wednesday, when the index climbed 594.84 points to close at 46,887.77 on turnover of NT$833.191 billion, helped by NT$58.5 billion in the final trading session. Analysts flagged projected full-day turnover of about NT$886 billion and said follow-through volume would be needed to sustain the advance. Copper-clad laminate and PCB shares outperformed: Taiwan Union Technology (2383-TW) hit its limit-up, while ITEQ (6213-TW) climbed to a record NT$885. Nan Ya PCB (8046-TW), Unimicron (3037-TW) and Kinsus (3189-TW) also advanced. U.S. gains overnight—Nasdaq up 1.05% and Philadelphia Semiconductor Index up 1.97%—and strong earnings from SpaceX, Supermicro and Meta supported sentiment.
