Tesla's Musk Teases Optimus Demo Within Two Months, AI5 Chip Rollout Slated for April

Elon Musk said Wednesday that Tesla (TSLA) could demonstrate Optimus humanoid robots performing tasks "that are not pre-programmed" within "maybe a month or two," according to a conference call transcript provided by AlphaSense. The CEO framed the planned demo as a "you can believe what you see" event. Tesla aims to begin embedding its AI5 chip into the robots around April of next year. The company plans to build 10,000 to 20,000 robots to gather training data and establish an "Optimus Academy" where the machines practice a wide range of tasks. At some point, the robots would be used to build others. Musk's remarks follow a prior event debuting the Roadster and hint at closer ties between Tesla and SpaceX (SPCX). Musk has pledged to stay out of merger talks while special committees work out deal details.
