Uber Rolls Out ChatGPT Work to All 30,000 Employees Under Expanded OpenAI Partnership
Uber and OpenAI said Thursday they are expanding their partnership, with Uber deploying ChatGPT Work across its entire global workforce of roughly 30,000 employees following an earlier pilot, the company told TechCrunch. The ride-share giant began testing the enterprise AI agent with 1,000 employees earlier this year across finance, operations and product, and about 80% of early adopters were non-engineers, said Sumanth Sukumar, Uber's vice president of engineering. He said staff used the tool to analyze operational data, localize training materials for different markets and build interactive dashboards. Uber did not disclose spending on the rollout. Sukumar said the company will track how employees use the technology and the workflows they develop to guide broader AI deployment. OpenAI worked closely with Uber on the integration. OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Work in July as an enterprise-focused agent, moving to scale its business customer base as it competes with rival Anthropic.
