Viking Therapeutics Inc. (VKTX) on Wednesday reported a wider third-quarter net loss of $183.2 million, or $1.55 per share, for the period ended September 30, 2026, compared with a loss of $90.8 million, or $0.81 per share, a year earlier, driven by higher research and development and general and administrative expenses. The clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company held $960 million in cash, cash equivalents and short-term investments as of September 30. Its lead obesity candidate, VK2735, is in Phase 3 testing in both subcutaneous and oral forms, with the VANQUISH-1 and VANQUISH-2 trials for the subcutaneous version expected to complete in 2027. Viking said it expects to finish a Phase 1 single ascending dose study of amylin receptor agonist VK3019 later this quarter and begin a four-week multiple ascending dose trial in the first quarter of 2027. VKTX closed Wednesday's trade at $25.36, up 1.89%, and was down 2.68% at $24.68 in overnight trading.
