Ripple received final approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to establish Ripple National Trust Bank, a federally supervised national trust bank, the company said Monday. The charter completes a process that began with conditional OCC approval in December 2025. The bank will manage segregated reserves backing the Ripple USD (RLUSD) stablecoin, serve as collateral trustee for RLUSD holders and provide fiduciary digital asset custody to enterprises. RLUSD remains issued by Standard Custody & Trust Company, Ripple's New York Department of Financial Services-regulated trust, placing the stablecoin under both state and federal supervision. RLUSD, launched in December 2024, has a market capitalization of about $2.6 billion, according to CoinGecko. BNY is the primary reserve custodian. XRP rose 0.5% over 24 hours to $1.29. The charters remain contested. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) told Comptroller Jonathan Gould the approvals violated the National Bank Act, while the Independent Community Bankers of America sued the OCC this month, calling the charters a "side door" around capital and supervision requirements.
